横浜 – Week 4 (March 19th to 22nd) – Accommodation)

After just over 3 weeks think Tokyo, it was time for me to go and explore the area a little bit – that’s when I booked 3 nights in a hostel in Yokohama: Guest house Futareno.

The staff was really nice and very surprised to see me coming with my house on my back (I am like the snail of the French song, but no one told me how hard it would be. At that point, I realised I needed to reconsider some items in my bag and send them home). They were very helpful, carrying my heavy luggage to the room upstairs and giving me a map of the cheap shops and supermarkets in the area.was a mixed dormitory, so earplugs were absolutely necessary. I had some, of course, but the hostel also provides some for free, as well as tea and coffee, and snacks. Also, the dormitory had a plug for everyone (which as I have since learned is not to be underrated).

Of course, when I booked it, it did not register in my head that I could have salarymen sleeping in the same dormitory (which was a little bit weird, considering I always thought such places were frequented by leisure travellers). Anyway, I had said earplugs, thank goodness, but the hostel also provides some for free, as well as tea and coffee, and snacks. Also, the dormitory had a plug for everyone (which as I have since learned is not to be underrated).

The hostel itself is of a reasonable size, was very clean, there was not too much space but it was enough as long as I did not keep my bag open (which of course I did not), and within walking distance of the bay area, where I wandered a lot (some pictures are already on FB, but they are only a few. I suffer from tourist syndrome, and blame my mum for that!).

I would go back there eyes closed and can easily recommend it for those of you who would like to spend a night or two in Yokohama!
